We have a quality bar here at Heatherev and while it isn't very high, we do expect you to do your best to soar over it! You guys are talented and we know that. It's time for you to shine! It comes down to three things:

1. MAKE IT NEAT
2. FOLLOW EACH FOLDER'S SUBMISSION RULES
3. DON'T USE THE GRASS TOOL PLEASE LOVE YOURSELF

Below are some clarifications:

- Please be comfortable drawing basic anatomy and scenery from various angles. This doesn't mean you have to draw a mansion in every piece you submit, but please give us more than a generic single colored hill. We encounter this problem a lot with people starting in the snowy and desert areas. Every inch of Hetherev is filled with interesting things to look at.

- While not every submission must be up to Challenge standard (we have many folders that accept different levels of 'done'), we still expect you to put forth effort. Every artist's Challenge level is different and we notice. We really do.

- Draw NEATLY. Don't submit things drawn on notebook paper and napkins. Characters should be recognizable from their backgrounds. Don't submit scribbles for trees and shadows. If we can't figure out what's going on in a panel or a scene within a few seconds, it will be rejected. Readability is key.

- Do NOT submit work that is traced or created with the use of bases.

- Do not use Hetherev as a dumping ground for unrelated art. Don't submit huge sketchdumps that only have one or two Hetherev-related doodles in the corner. Use our Favorites for that.

- Make sure ALL WORDS on your submissions are readable at a glance! If you have bad handwriting, use a font. If you're using a font, don't use some ridiculously tiny cursive script.

FOR DIGITAL ART
- Please save your images at a high enough quality that they aren't full of blobby 'artifacts'.
- When submitting animated gifs, please do not make them flash rapidly.
- Stop using that smudge tool to blend, it's low class son.
- Art that is too dark to be seen on most monitors will be rejected.
- Don't use the grass tool either, c'mon you gotta BUHLEEEV in urself!
- Don't rely so heavily on filters and stamp-like brushes that if taken away your image has a bunch of ugly empty space.

FOR TRADITIONAL ART
- Please make sure your scans are clear, properly rotated, and bright.
- Scans should be properly cropped. Don't cut off important things like speech bubbles or characters.
- Do not submit artwork drawn on notebook paper.
- Do not submit PHOTOS of drawings.
- You may submit CLEAR, FOCUSED photos of sculptures, stuffed toys, paper crafts etc...

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE AN IMAGE IN THE GALLERY THAT DOESN'T MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS:
- Nothing.
- That's not your job. This group is FIVE years old and has gone through various mods and admins and rules have changed and will change again. You do you. Don't worry about anybody else. Peace, starchild.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR INDIVIDUAL FOLDERS

Stage Challenges
All artwork submitted must be colored, shaded, and have a background. Submit your best! These are the crown jewels of Hetherev! Challenges do not have to be comics! They can be single illustrations too.

Character Refs for Respective Areas
All artwork must be colored. We prefer shaded refs but if flats can clearly convey the character, we also accept flats! Make sure all the words on your ref are easy to read.

Art Jams
All artwork must be at least flat colored to be accepted! You can find the jams list on our front page!

NPCs and Locations
All artwork must be at least flat colored to be accepted!

Interaction Objects
All artwork must be at least flat colored to be accepted!

Interactions
Can include sketches of a finished quality.

FAVORITES
This group also uses the Favorites folder! If you have a piece of gift art/ a trade or commission drawn by a non member  that you'd like to share, or something  that otherwise does not meet the group's gallery requirements, feel free to submit it there!

If you see a piece that doesn't seem to meet these standards, remember that the group is FIVE YEARS OLD and rules have been changed throughout its life and will no doubt change again.
